New van!

So after 5 years with the trusty transit the time came to move on to something a bit nicer to drive!

It took me a good few weeks to find what I wanted for my budget but ended up with this 2008 LWB T5 with 45000 miles so was pretty happy with that. Has aircon too so summertime driving will be nice.

So its time for the conversion to a windsurf van to start. Im hoping to do this van pretty well but its going to take a long time for me to finish! Next stage is getting cruise control fitted for the motorway driving, then its time to insulate the van.

Not entirely sure what im going to use, will put some photos up when i’ve done it!

The van looks awesome though, looking forward to a good drive tomorrow!The K718 number plate is on the way too... Here’s a little pic of the first van with the number plate, it was K reg so hence the sail number!

Hopefully a windsurf trip in it soon!

New Year trip to Ireland

So its been a busy month with a last minute 3 day trip windsurfing to Ireland, a week skiing in the best snow I’ve ever seen, selling my lovely van, and hopefully finding a newer one!

First the Ireland trip....

It was my first chance to test out my new mystic gear and I have to say it was much better than my older stuff! The wetsuit took a little getting used too as you have to climb in through the neck but once i had this cracked...(after 1 go) it was awesome. Mega warm and stretchy, love it. I got the harness with the boa system they use in snowboard boots in and again it was awesome. Lots of support! So despite the weather being pretty horrific (30 knots, hail, rain, and mist) I was nice and warm.

The conditions were awesome... more will follow about my trip so dont want to give it all away now!

The Skiing...

I went to Austria in the first week of January and there was so much snow! We stayed in a really nice Austrian run b&b which was a short walk from the lifts. Was pretty perfect!

As well has having loads of snow we had a couple of days of sun too. I took the Volkl RTM 84’s with me to test and they were incredible. Really good in the powder and on piste.

Back to windsurfing....

So after having my van for about 5 years and it taking me to Morocco, Spain, France, Belgium, the Netherlands and Ireland the time came to sell it. Within a day of putting it on Gumtree someone had come to buy it so was pretty ideal really but I was sad to see it go! I’m hoping to get a newer transporter in the next few days so hopefully back on the road soon. Pretty devastated i missed out on an awesome session at Bridlington with the Juice boys....the pics look awesome on facebook! Check them out!

New Deal with Mystic.

So I’ve been out a few times over the past few months, loving the windy uk weather!

I have just had a load of Mystic Kit arrive! They will be my wetsuit, harness and clothing sponsor. Im really happy with the gear, its all top quality and nice and warm so I should be able to sail all through the winter. The harness looks so good, got the boa system on it so get lots of support around the lower back. Wetsuit is mega stretchy as well as being warm, much better than my O’Neil one!

Just booked everything for a trip to Ireland over new year! Forecast looks amazing so should get to test all my new kit. Got the camera packed so should get some photos and footage. Only going for 3 days so wasnt sure whether it was worth the trip but with the forecast looking so good I had to book it!

50 Knots at Kirby

Went to Kirby for monday and tuesday last week. I got there at about 3 to find Jacksaw and a few others out on there 4.2’s. I got changed and by the time i was in my wetsuit it was full power 3.7 weather! I rigged my 3.7 S-1. It was mega gusty, going from not planing to unable to hold on. It wasn’t the nicest windsurf but i managed a few skopus and burners so was pretty happy.

The next day I woke up early and met Gumpy and Jacksaw at the lake. It was pretty horrible, raining and mega windy so we all minced round for a while! Finally i decided to rig up, was crazy windy again but had a good time. Jacksaw and Tom took some video so hopefully it’ll be online soon!

Kirby Clinics

So finally i managed to fit some teaching in at Kirby for a few guys. Was 4 people in the end, Ollie, Ike, Matt and Sam. The clinic started well with full power 4.7 weather, unfortunately it dropped off pretty quickly but it was good fun!

Hoping to do one again soon when the wind comes back!

Just started work at Glide n Slide ski shop so if you need any winter kit give me a call!!
