  1. 2.As you grab the mast pull it into the wind as hard as you can, looking into the rotation over your shoulder. You should aim for to have your hand on the mast by the time the board has turned 90 degrees.

  1. 3.Place your back hand on the boom, but do not push out.

  1. 4.Once the board has rotated 360 degrees the sail will flick round.

  1. 5. Sheet in on the new side.

Light Wind Practice

Switch Stance heli tacks.

  1. 1.As you are pulling the mast into the wind place your back hand onto the boom  between the harness lines and the mast. For a one handed 540 place your hand on the harness lines.

  1. 2.Release your mast hand and continue to push the sail away from you with the hand on the boom.

  1. 3.Turn your body to face into the rotation. Using your vision look forwards; ie the direction of the exit.

  1. 4.Once the board has rotated 360 degrees the sail will flick round, place your hands on the new side of the boom and sail off.

  1. 1.As you pull the mast into the wind move your mast hand onto the boom.

  1. 2. As the clew passes through the wind transfer you weight to your back foot.

If you have slowed down the ending is like that of a vulcan. If you are planing end like a gybe.
